Different Teas and Their Uses

If you’ve ever taken one of my classes at OSU, I always advertise tea and cookies if you stop by to visit my office, or go to office hours. I have SO MUCH tea in my office. And I bought each type with a use in mind to help students’ mental health. It’s a short term, band aid solution, I know. But sometimes we just need some mild relief when it comes to being stressed or are anxious or panicked. So, here are some different types of teas, and how they are beneficial to your mental health.

  1. Chamomile- This tea is a fantastic sleep aid. Just enough to get you to fall asleep and wake up without being groggy. Also really good to relax someone having a panic attack.
  2. Mint tea- great energy booster without caffeine.
  3. Black tea- great to boost energy and relax at the same time, has a lot of caffeine.
  4. Lemon-ginger- good for treating nausea and vomiting
  5. Valerian root- Very good sleep aid. Be careful, it will knock you out depending on how strong your tea is.
  6. Green tea- also a good energy booster. Also has a lot of caffeine.
